Complicated Music Setup | | fritz | May 31, 2010 | I'm with a group of people, in a space that appears to be like my old apartment on Garden Home Road. I have some guests, I think my brothers Steve and Joe among them.
I'm trying to get some music playing - but not just any music, something specific. It takes a lot of setup. The music-playing device needs to talk to another device which has some music files on it, plus my main music database on the network, and I want it to shuffle between them. I've done this before, and I know it can be done, it's just a lot of steps.
A large screen of settings appears as though projected on the wall. There are like a hundred fields, all filled out with computerese data values. It reminds me of my friend Jenny, who would certainly object to this user interface. As a sort of joke, I ask my guests "So, does that look right?"
It finds something that has "obama" in the title, apparently some clips from the news that are available from somewhere. I don't want to listen to those, but it doesn't matter, it means that it is connecting, and I'll choose the ones I want later. | Next: Rockin' the Tent |
