Missing Our Flight! Whenever it is!fritzNov 14, 2010

I'm traveling, and it's the day we're going home. We go back to the hotel and take a quick dip in the pool, which is about the size of a bedroom, but I decide I don't have time to hang around and enjoy it, as there are only a couple hours until we leave.

I go back to my hotel room and start arranging my pack and day-bag, as I always do before a flight, moving the items I need for airplane trips into my day-bag - my inflatable pillow, headphones, books, etc. My mp3 player is nearly discharged, and I don't have time to recharge it. I put the recharging cables in my day-bag in the hopes that the opportunity will come up.

I bring my warm hat in case it is cold on the plane, and a light pair of gloves. Somebody questions the gloves, a girl, and I remind her of how much trouble she had keeping her hands warm while holding her blanket around her body on the last trip, though I point out the method of gathering your blanket around you and holding it with your fists at your chest, inside the blanket.

My backpack is not as full as I expected, which seems like a victory until I realize a lot of things aren't packed yet, and are still set around the room, large things like jackets and sweaters. It's getting late, I'm scrambling to get everything packed. The flight is supposed to be at 1:30, and suddenly I look at my watch at it is like 1:24 - oh crap, there's no way we can make it now! I'm ready, barely, but where is everybody else?

My mom comes in, dressed in a sundress like she just came from the pool. She's not ready! I tell her that we are going to miss our flight, and she doesn't even know what time it was supposed to take off, but it isn't now. I look at my ticket, and it distinctly says 1:30, but then I realize: Europeans wouldn't put 1:30 for the afternoon, they'd list it as 13:30. So maybe our flight is at 9:30 in the evening (nice time math, sleepy-brain)! I don't know, when is it, what are we going to do?
