I'm sitting on a curb by my hotel, sorting my snorkeling gear. Apparently I just got out of the water. I go over to the hotel, in a sort of covered area but still outside, to rinse my gear in the hose.

A few people come up wearing harnesses dangling with carabiners. I ask them about where they were climbing, but as I'm asking I notice they have heavy red helmets on, and correct myself - they're not climbers, they're spelunkers.

I go into the hotel and run across my friend, who is working during the day, but has a lunch break now. He invites me to lunch, but I need a minute to figure out where to put my bike (an orange trail bike, like the one I had in Seville). Can I put it up in my hotel room, or would the hotel have somewhere to put it?

What I need is a bike lock. I mention to my friend, did he see what was out the front of the hotel? I know the ocean is that way, but there are a few stores, maybe a bike shop? And how is the weather?

I look out to check the weather (it was raining, but now it's sunny), and I see a Tru-Value hardware store just across the street. Hey, they'll have a bike lock! I just have to run over there real quick.
