High School Pickpocket | | fritz | Apr 19, 2005 | I am in a high school, but I am my own age. I'm pushing through a crowd and somebody bumps me in a suspicious way. I immediately reach for my wallet, and it's gone. The kid who bumped me is still nearby, the pockets of his black leather jacket are obviously bulging in the shapes of wallets, and he's retreating hastily but trying not to be conspicuous. I say something like "hey, you..." but he gets away.
There is a thin girl nearby, and after gathering myself, I ask her where he would have gone. She leads me by the hand to the cafeteria, where he is sitting in a rather dark place with his friends. I approach him gently with the purpose of simply explaining to him that there is no money in the wallet, and nothing of value to him, but it is a big hassle to lose one's wallet, so if he will give it back, I'll get him $50 out of the cash machine and we'll call it good. I crouch down to talk to him, but before I can speak, he responds angrily "Get out of here! If I had a gun right now, I'd just... boom! Pop you one", pointing his gun-finger menacingly. I say, "but wait, just listen..." | Next: Peter's Balloons |
