Lost a PinkyfritzMar 3, 2011

I've lost a pinky finger, somehow chopped it off. It doesn't seem to hurt, and I'm in my parents' kitchen, sort of joking about it. It's a little gross and raw where the break happened, but it seems irrelevant, like it doesn't really matter that it's missing.

Somebody asks if I at least put the finger in the freezer in case they can reattach it. No, it seems I didn't, it's in my left-hand jacket pocket, and I've had in it there a while. I dig it out from among the other junk in there and put it in the freezer, which is against the eastern wall where the fridge used to be, but now there is a stove. The finger is rather black, and looking rather dead.

Now it's starting to worry me. I'm trying to think of what use the finger is, and it seems mostly unimportant, I can even strum the guitar without it. But then I realize that it is my left pinky, and I need it to fret certain chords.

Note: my main project these days is an Android app relating to fretting chords. Also I've recently recovered from a thumb injury that has prevented a lot of normal activities, including playing guitar.
