Flying Machines of Man and NaturefritzMar 21, 2011

I'm up on the hill at the farm, and dad and his friend are cruising around overhead on some sort of flying machine. It seems like their first flight, and dad is grinning and waving.

I get out my camera to take a picture, but they're flying lower now. I ask them to fly high so I can get the picture with them against the blue sky, but dad says no, they have to land now.

I'm on the hill by the barn where you can look out over the subdivision, but in the valley is a huge shallow lake, which presently is full of thousands of ducks. I start to take pictures of them instead - look, there are geese too, and plovers, and even penguins!

I go down closer to photograph the penguins - what a rare sighting, right here on the farm!

I end up in the water up to my waist, and two large black crows come and sit on my upper arms. They seem friendly, but they are also rather menacing at that distance. I talk to them, and consider myself quite a friend to birds, but they make me nervous so I slide under the water, figuring they'll just fly off.

To my surprise, they don't fly off. One dives under the water and swims away like a fish, and the other clings to my shoulder under the water until I come up.
