I've gone to this party, and they present me with a gift; it's a big yellow plastic stereo, as if designed for children, that also takes the shape of a sitting bench. I don't really want it - it's so big and unwieldy - but I appreciate their generosity.

I leave the party, forgetting the stereo, and remember it when I get out to the parking lot. I go back to get it, on the way, passing a number of familiar people from the party, who are now heading out to a dance club or something. I would like to go with them, but I have to go back for the stereo. I'm afraid that they will think I didn't appreciate their gift.

I get back to the house, which has become a restaurant in a mall. It's all closed now, and there's a note on the door that says that it is late, they are old, and they have gone to bed. They say to leave the dishes outside the door, and there are several cardboard boxes there full of dishes.
