I'm traveling in a foreign country. I get up very early, when it's dark, and my hosts drive me somewhere several hours away to catch my next transportation. We're following signs on the road to Oslo.

I'm sitting in the back seat, behind the passenger. The passenger is a girl who is complaining of some health or comfort issue, the result of which is that leans her seat back as far as it can go, taking up almost my entire space. I arrange myself with the seat practically in my lap, and my legs around both sides.

The sun comes up, and I see a really cool bird out the window. It's small like a sparrow, from the top it looks brown, and from the side it is brightly rainbow-colored and shimmery. At my request, the driver stops the car so I can take pictures of it. But my digital camera is slow to react, and I keep getting pictures of the plain brown part, and meanwhile the bird is getting nervous and making toward the bush. I switch to movie mode and get what footage I can.
