Nobody's DogfritzApr 25, 2012

I'm in a downtown area of a city, perhaps loading up my car or something. There's a fuss in the road, and I see that my dogs are running around. I go out into the street, holding up a hand to stop the traffic while I collect them. Everybody stops, and they're very nice about it.

There's another dog in the road, a very tiny dog with white curly hair like a poodle, who has apparently been hit by a car, and is quite bloody, but still running around. I ignore him at first - after all, he's not my dog - while I put my dogs in the car, but then I think better of it, feel bad for him, and go back to check.

I scoop the little dog up and bring him to the curb. He is injured, but with some care he'll be fine. He's obviously homeless, and in some places his fur is thin and I can see fleas roaming around on the skin of his back. I'm wondering what I should do with him - I don't really want another dog, but I can't just leave him here. There's a boy nearby with his father, and as I'm thinking about this, I hear them agree that the boy can keep the dog, so I am relieved that he has found a good home.
