Stranded at 45 Feet | | fritz | Aug 1, 2012 | I'm climbing in a gym with very tall walls, like columns. There is a spot about halfway up, at least 25 feet in the air, which requires a difficult transition from one face to another, counterclockwise around this corner, but that's the only part that is tricky, and I manage to make the move.
For some reason I think I can do it without ropes, probably because I just did it and didn't have any trouble. But I try it again, and somehow I end up stranded, clinging to about a 10 foot stalactite. There are two of these stalactites, one perhaps about 6 feet from the wall, the other another 6 feet or so away. I'm really high, like 40 or 45 feet, and I know that it's likely to be a deadly fall. My only hope is to try to leap over and down to the next column, and then leap again over to the wall. I don't think I will make it. | Next: New Baby Book Balancing |
