I'm rock climbing. There is this one very big, loose rock, and I think we put it up onto the wall to use it for climbing, but it isn't very stable, so one must be careful. My friend (probably Ty) climbs up and over it, and continues up the wall for about 15 feet until I realize that he has no protection, so I yell up there for him to tie in before he falls.

I need to belay him, so I go back to my gear back but I apparently didn't bring a harness. That's ok, I can make one with webbing, but I don't have any of that either. I find a short metal cable with loops on the ends so I wrap it around my waist and under my legs (a known backup plan called the 'diaper sling'), and clip the ends together, but I don't have a belay device. Oh wait, I find one. People around me are looking at commenting on my nonstandard harness, but I assure them that it is fine, perfectly safe.
