Football and SnowfritzMar 11, 2013

I'm in an amateur football game, on a field with a light dusting of snow, and Vic from the climbing club is the leader of my team. The field is very slanted, and we line up one behind the other facing up the hill, with the endzone far off to the right. There are only a couple of seconds left, we're losing, and Vic just goes for it, running the ball. I'm a couple of players behind him, and I try to set up a block for him, because if he had that, he could make it past the defenders, but without it he will almost certainly be taken down. "Pick me up!" I yell at him, suggesting that he drop back to take the block, but he doesn't, and I can't catch him. He manages to change direction and break one tackle anyway, and make some good yardage before succumbing to the safety. Dang, if he'd only had a blocker. But, it seems we got the first down, so it was some sort of victory.

Then there are several inches of snow, and I'm in a house with Aunt Marvelene. I think I was going to work but now I don't have to go because it's so snowy. I check the temperature, and it's 50F and raining, so I say that the snow won't be here very long, in fact, if you watch it, you can clearly see it melting rapidly.
