I'm skiing on a mountain. I've just come to a stop at the bottom of a hill that curves around a wide circle, so I can see people traversing over where I have been. They are going fast and jumping. I wonder how many of them break their legs every day - it seems like it must be quite a few.

There is a girl there, and I am helping her with a nylon strap that goes around from her pack or harness down between her legs, which is a little distracting. I tie it off for her but then I have to trim off the tail, so I get a knife, only to find that it has already been cut. How did that happen?
