Dad and Mom are going to jail. It seems they were involved in some sort of white-collar crime, for some time, and finally they were caught. They live in a sort of apartment, and it is all cleared out for their departure, and the mood is low and resigned.

I imagine mom settling into her cell. She is really going to miss dad. Then it occurs to me that we are in New Zealand; maybe they can avoid their fate by returning to the U.S. really fast? It seems like a pretty novel idea. I'm not sure if I talk to dad about it, but somehow I come to the realization that it won't work, even if we could plan it really quickly. Justice just can't be escaped. They are resigned to their fate.

On the kitchen counter are three large mounds of powder. One of them is cocaine cut with something else, one is pancake mix, and I don't know what the third one is. It seems like we should figure it out before they leave, so I ask my dad which is which.
