I'm traveling with my parents, apparently in Greece. We're just about to leave, and I'm thinking about stopping for some souvenirs. But mom wanders down an alley and then calls back to us to come down there. She has found a trail into a beautiful wooded area, with a creek.

There are sandy banks on the creek, and I see the impressions of something moving quickly under the sand, upstream. I really quickly dig into its path with my hand, and out pops a lizardlike creature with a very stumpy tail, like a gila monster. I dig a couple of the other trails, and find some different creatures.
