There's about a foot of snow on the ground, and I'm helping Petra, who is trying to drive a very large white car (a "boat", like an old Pontiac) in the deep ruts. I'm guiding her from outside, telling her which way to turn, as though she were backing up.

There are some kittens and puppies in the ruts, and I tell her to stop. When she doesn't stop, I even pound on the fender and yell, but she gives me a look that says "I know what I'm doing", and runs right over them.

Several of the animals are crushed, I think two of the puppies and one of the kittens. The other kittens drag it back to their nest, and are cuddling with it, not realizing it is dead, although its face is badly damaged and bloody.

I'm really mad at Petra. It's Christmas; we've already opened most of the presents, but there are still a few more. I say "Forget it, we'll have to open them another day. I just can't now; those cats and dogs were alive and now they're dead because of you", and I walk out to my car and leave.
