Headrest MalfunctionfritzDec 30, 2013

I'm driving on Bell road, by the trestle. My truck is parked along the right side of the road, pointing up the hill at the bottom of the steep area. I'm driving my previous black Subaru down the hill, and I stop just above the trestle, park the car and walk up to the truck. I think my cars are out of gas (*), but there's enough in the truck to drive it to the gas station, then come back for the car. As I walk between the two vehicles, a car comes down the road and looks at me as if asking if I need help, and I wave them on. Then another car comes, same thing happens, but I'm not sure I communicate clearly with them. I think I change my mind about driving the truck, but the situation doesn't

I think I come back later for my Subaru, with somebody else, I believe my brother Steve. Just before we pass through the trestle, something malfunctions in the headrest, and it pops up, pinning my head in an awkward position against the roof, and I can't see except a small sliver of light. I appeal to my passenger for help, but nothing is done and I brace for the car to hit the trestle. Somehow I scrape through using only what little I can see, and stop the car at the corner down below, where there is a convenience store (not really). We get out there, trying to get over the adrenaline of the experience. I comment that I don't usually stop at this store for some reason.

(*) My friend Stacey is scrimping on gas to get to my house to watch football.
