Technical PresentationfritzMar 1, 2014

I go with Alona and some of her friends to a technical presentation, way across town, as if at University of Portland. There is some evidence of Audio Precision there; I think, a logo on the floor that was there from some previous presentation, but now it's mostly covered. I point it out to them.

So, we sit down and listen to a presentation on some voice recognition topic. The boys that are with Alona are pretty interested. After the talk, a stranger comes up to me and asks if this is all there is to the thing, and I say yeah, and I think it's over. But nearby is a theater room that apparently has some advertising displays and representatives in it, somebody tells me. Oh, sorry, I didn't know. We'd better go check that out too.

We leave and go out to the car. I have to mess around with my foot, which is wearing the big medical boot. I take it off and I'm trying to adjust my bandages and stuff. I put on this specially-designed heel bandaid, which has tendrils that go down under the heel, to the sides, and up the tendon. But those never work, I tried one before, and it just fell off, just like this one does. Somebody asks me what I'm doing, and I explain about the boot and foot, and I say I haven't worn this boot in weeks, for some reason I felt like I had to wear now, but I'll just take it off for the drive, it's fine.

All the monkeying around has made the heel bleed. I thought it was more healed that that! Maybe I should go to the doctor.

One of the boys with Alona asks me if we will be driving out 'that way', indicating up the hill to an exit at the top of the parking lot (on a hill like PCC). I think he wants to go to the exit and smoke. I look around; the freeway is down below us on the opposite side, but I think there's only one exit, and I say yes, we'll go out that way.
