I'm with a couple of friends; it seems like the evening before a climb or something, and we have to get some last-minute things at the store. I know just the place - a little store in Southwest Portland, like near the University, by the freeways.

I think it's on 19th, but we can't seem to get there in the car. The streets all go the wrong way, and there's a dead end right where we need to go. We go around, and end up going through a park on bikes to get there. We made it! We park our bikes and lock them up.

The store is called "La Vin de Rouge", and it is full of people, standing in a long line all around the store. I explain to my friends that it has become very popular for some special pastry that they make, people come and buy dozens of them.
