Secret Snow HutfritzJun 15, 2014

I'm out on a mountain in the snow, with a nondescript other person. We come to a large flat field of snow - aha, here it is - and start to dig.

We dig down about 15 or 20 feet, and find a door. It opens up to the secret cabin that I expected to find here. I call it "Silcox" (although it is not the Silcox Hut that actually exists on Mt Hood).

It's very spacious inside, about the size of two large living rooms. There are various survival items in there, a stove and propane tanks, but no firewood. I guess we'll have to go find some. We explore the area, including some deck that somehow exists out one side. Everything is snowy, and should be cold, but we're pretty comfortable in the hut.

I go back outside, I think to look for wood for the fire. Out in the middle of the clearing, I stop to pee, right in the middle of nowhere.

As I'm peeing, I notice some Asian-looking people on a little hill nearby, looking straight at me, watching me pee. That's weird, I didn't realize there was anybody else out here. Then some children appear over the hill and I'm like, oops, well now what do I do? After a few seconds, I realize, of course, I should at least turn around so they can't see me pee. I turn so that my back is to them.

The father of the group comes down the hill and across the snow toward me. I finish peeing, and he asks me what I'm doing, and it comes up that I know about the hut and have come to stay there for a day or two with my friend. He asks how we'll be heating it; I say that we would be ok even without heat, but we were going to gather some firewood. He seems to think it would better be heated with propane, but I don't think there is any available.

He pulls out a cell phone and makes a call. I didn't realize there was cell coverage out here. He tells the person on the other end that they need to call an meeting of the committee that runs this hut. I think he doesn't think I should know about it, that I don't belong there, and wants to figure out what to do about it.
