The Lake Marion Monsters | | fritz | Aug 19, 2006 | There is a strange demon taunting me. He hides in the bushes or wherever, then makes a sound. I come to investigate the sound, and right when I am close, tense and vulnerable, he jumps out and scares me out of my wits. New costumes and characters are added every time he jumps out.
I am at Lake Marion, camping with Scott (exactly where I am sleeping in reality). Scott comes and put his head in the window of my tent, and in the dim light from the flashlight, I can see only the outline of his facial features. "We've got to get out of here" he says, obviously scared.
"Why, what's up?" I ask, but I am interrupted by the noise of his tent door being zipped and unzipped rapidly. "Is that your tent?" I ask, climbing out of my tent to investigate.
Suddenly lights blaze, trumpets blare, and the demon pops out. He has a face painted like an evil clown, and candy-striped tights. He has a long snakelike body, and he rides a bicycle-sized scooter with an unbalanced rear wheel so that he goes up and down as he rides, back and forth along the side of the hill. With him is a huge hairy monster, his newest scare friend.
I awaken petrified, and it takes many minutes to settle back down. | Next: A Small Part to Play |
