I'm scuba diving in a river with some people, among them my brother Dave. He's just come back from his dive, which I apparently didn't go on, and the other people we were with have left. I tell him I still have some air left, and I think he does too, so we should go out a little bit more. For some reason this doesn't work for him, and he slides along upriver in the shallow water.

I too go along up the bank, and see a large lizard, probably a foot long and a couple of inches around, with a big hole eaten out of the skin along her back. It isn't bloody or anything, just an open hole, and the other smaller lizards and sneaking in bites of her skin and innards. She is still alive and moving around like normal, but sure to die pretty soon. I take some pictures.
