I go with Carrie and a guy to a Thriftway, I believe out in Sherwood, where she works. I showed her how to work there. The guy has to take back some bottles, but he has no car and no money, so I'm giving him a lift.

While he's taking back the bottles, Carrie and I are in this hallway that has some flattened boxes on the floor, and there are some dirty children playing. Carrie says how gross it is, these kids living in the walls, and if they have to pee, pissing in a hole in the wall. I didn't realize they did that.

Our friend is finished returning his bottles, but he says that as soon as he got the money, he just had to give it back to the guy, because apparently he owed him money. I joke that we should go back and get another load, but I don't mean to volunteer to do that.

As we go outside to go back to the car, there is a bright flash, and we all stop and look around for what it was. It seems to have been lighting, but there's no thunder. We look up for where it came from, and I see a spectacular lightning strike, and tell everybody it was up there, over there, but for some reason I can't see very well and I'm not really sure I saw it.

Just then a jet plane buzzes very low over us and attempts to land at a facility across a field, but all we see is a huge ball of flame, and some people running out. Then some fireworks go off above us.
