Beavers ScreeningfritzMar 21, 2015

I take my car with a bunch of people to see a Beavers game. We drive somewhere as if in far-northeast Portland, where our directions take us to a church. I don't know why I didn't know this, but I thought it was a live game, and it's just a televised screening. Why did I think they would be playing at some random place in far-northeast Portland? I think maybe because they were playing a Washington team, so the met in the middle? I don't know. I guess this is just a gathering for the people that can't watch the game at home.

Anyway, the game is set up on a large projection screen in the front of the church, and people are seated all over the auditorium. We take a couch that is free off to the left. A lot of people are sitting on the floor, and some in chairs.

There is a break in the game, where we go to another room for a few minutes. Then the break is over, and we have to go back into the auditorium. Mom is in a wheelchair, and I'm helping my dad wheel her. We're manipulating these two long cords that are attached to the handles of the wheelchair. I try to roll the wheels over the strap on the floor, and my dad immediately gets mad at me because I'm not using the straps 'correctly'. I try pulling both halves of the strap upward, but he shows me, putting the strap on the floor and both feet on it in two places and pulling it taut, then rolling over it. I try to duplicate his moves, but for some reason I can't get it right, and that just makes him madder.

We get back to the auditorium, and settle back into our couch, which is very comfortable, letting me sit back very deeply. I'm sitting with a girl, somebody that I broke up with in the past, but now we're talking about how special we are together.

A tall black man comes by with some menus, and tells us that if we're going to sit on the couches, we have to order food. I look over the menu; there aren't many choices, and I'm looking for something that fits my 'points'. Some of the m appear to be substitutions, but instead of writing, they have samples of the food, sealed in bubbles attached to the menu. The bubbles look a little ragged, and the food pretty stale. I order some steak and rice.
