Smashing the Mower for InsurancefritzSep 8, 2006

I'm at a house unlike my own, and I'm standing on a porch near a white picket fence. Steve brings out the lawn mower and prepares to smash it in order to get the insurance money (perhaps relating to a conversation I had in reality with Scott, that to total his car would probably be the best thing for it). I find the idea dubious, but for some reason I don't step in. He starts smacking it headlong into stuff.

I'm concerned that I might be called on as a witness in the insurance settlement, as I am now watching his purposeful smashing. I think of the neighbors who might also observe. I think that he should mow the lawn first to make the incident seem more legitimate, and besides, we should get the lawn mowed one last time, as we might not have a mower for a while.

It's getting pretty smashed up now, and Steve decides to start it. It starts at first, but pretty quickly makes some nasty clanking noises, shaking and stuttering, breaking apart inside, and dies.

At this point Steve starts talking about what a nice mower we can get for the money. I get a little mad and tell him that I paid $250 for that mower, so that's some limit - how much I will pay for the next one, or something.
