Traveling, Not in ChinafritzDec 14, 2015

I'm traveling with my mom and my brother Steve, in some third-world-type country. We've been there for about three days, and I'm thinking, this is just the part of the trip where I just hate the country, and wonder why I'm here; that always happens, and I get over it. It seems poor and dirty, and I have a couple of cameras in my bag, but I don't know what to photograph.

We stop somewhere, and I notice these little tiny souvenir umbrellas, about the size of the palm of your hand, and I take one off a high shelf and open it up. It opens ok, but seems rather cheap and fragile, and somebody points out that not only is it cheap plastic crap, it's not even native to this country - and on a closer look, indeed it has "Made in China" stamped on it. I put it back.

We're traveling in a city, down covered alleyways stores. These people are rather into video games, and there are these video game parlors with something like the old coin-op arcade games, but tiny versions, to sit on a tabletop. I take some pictures, and I start videotaping this strange childrens' cartoon that is playing on a TV, but my sister Keta is there and she says she already got some good footage of it.

Then I'm with Steve, and we're both carrying these coiled-up extension cords, like climbing ropes, on one shoulder. I just love these extension cords; they're so thin and flexible. I tell him that if I ever need an extension cord at home, I'm going to look on the internet for cords from this country, because they are so awesome.
