In the basement of my parents' house, my sister has some little rodent pets, and there's been some sort of slaughter. There's the remains of a ferret on the floor. She has this big flat box where she keeps some other ones, and she opens it up to show me. A lot of them seem injured, and there are a couple of mice that have their entire bodies gone, only the heads remaining. Leah says rather innocently that they still seem to be alive - they're moving their mouths and stuff - but I have the morbid thought that they probably feel thirsty.

I think I'm trying to show dad, or somebody, and I come back a few minutes later. This time, when Leah picks up the box to open it she says "Oh no", feeling no movement inside, and indeed, they all seem to be dead. Except there are some kittens in the back corner of the box who are ok. I guess whatever it is, doesn't affect kittens.
