Trip, Too Fast, and Unsolveable PuzzlefritzOct 1, 2006

On a trip somewhere, we've stopped for supplies. It seems to be a small store in a house, and I'm in the open garage, filling a spare Diet Coke bottle with water from the garage sink (note: there's an actual Diet Coke bottle filled with water by my bedside). A man and woman come in, and I recognize them from earlier in the trip, though we are not familiar. I say hello to them.

Then we're driving down a very curvy road down a mountain, switchback after switchback, in a small van. I am in the passenger seat and Steve is driving. He goes too fast around a corner and loses control, the rear of the van sliding out. We spin around and go up on two wheels, almost tipping over. The only damage is that the windshield falls out, and disappears. I tell Steve that should be a sign that he's going too fast, and we should stop at the next auto glass shop and get a new windshield put in.

There was also an incident with one of those puzzles with fifteen square tiles in an enclosure where you have to slide them into position to make a picture. But on this one, all the tiles are blank. I think they're upside down, so I flip them over, but I can't find the picture on them. I'm with an older gentleman, and he says proudly that he solved those puzzles twice, making it sound like a real accomplishment. I can usually solve them within a minute, but I don't tell him. I'm starting to tell him that I have really neat one at home with a three-dimensional frog on it.
