Leaving India with Somebody's StufffritzOct 26, 2016

I'm leaving India (as I am in real life). I'm longing for this small Indian girl, who is leaving, in the evening light, getting on the back of a moped and going away. I don't know if we even met really, but I wave at her and she stops and jumps off the moped and comes over to hug and kiss me. But then she leaves, and I am alone among the high stone walls of some Indian town.

These two European guys come up, tall thin blond fellows from Germany or Sweden, one with glasses. They are looking for some fish that they had, in this bag - and hey, what is this bag on my shoulder? I hadn't even noticed it there, but he recognizes it, says he carried it into discos all over the city. I take it off my shoulder, along with a second one just like it, and hand them over. They are very large square bags, like a meter square, that unfold in half to lie flat. He opens it up in the ground to show all the pockets inside, with all of his traveling gear, and indeed, in a couple of the pockets are the fish, whole, but dead, as if caught on a line for cooking.

I apologize to the guys for having their bags, explaining they the girl probably had them, and slyly slipped them over my shoulder while we were hugging.

Next: Lots of Dead Nobodies
