I've hired a guy to change the oil in my truck. I think it's Joe from the Tire Pros, where I just was that day, but he's shorter and more Mexican. He does the oil change, and then stacks the materials tidily in the garage. I start to fill out the check, asking him how to spell his name, although I think I should know. His first name is Dwight, and he spells the last name all out, but I think it's McConnell. Then I ask him how much I owe him, and he says like $249. Well that doesn't sound right, it was only supposed to be $129, what's the extra cost for? I think he did have to do something extra, but not that much. He says it's because it's not a regular car, it's a "pass rusher", which is a football term, not a car one. I ask, so what, what was the extra work associated with that, and he deflects, taking me out to the garage to show me something. The amount on the check remains empty.
