First Big Truck Delivery | | fritz | May 21, 2018 | It's my first run driving a big semi-truck. Apparently I just got trained up or whatever, and accepted this load of taking a single box to some company. I think the contents are paper.
At first we're driving along a narrow road, and somebody else is driving; I'm going to take over the wheel in a minute. The lane seems really narrow, we're just inches from the wall on my side, and there isn't much space on the other side, where other big trucks are passing in the opposite lane. But I remember it always looks worse from here, when I've driven it's not that bad, there is room for the truck in the lane.
We arrive at our destination, with I think me driving at this point, and stop outside the loading dock. I go in and tell them that their load has arrived. It's a box about 8-10 feet long, perhaps a little more than a foot square in cross-section.
But first I have to back the truck up into their loading dock. Oh man, that is going to be difficult. I can do this. | Next: It's a Good Car, Really |
