I'm out in a backyard at night, with several pets, Bella and a couple small ground-walking birds - not chickens, but these brown speckled birds that stay nearby when I take them out. Somebody says to be careful because there are coyotes around, and I say yeah I know but then suddenly one comes bounding over a 30-foot hill that is in the middle of the yard, straight toward me and my birds. I start yelling and trying to defend them, but I can't very well because I'm carrying a baby. The coyote runs past me toward the birds, then seeming to become aware of my presence, turns around clumsily to face me, and then jumps right into my face, attacking me and the baby. I fight him off but the baby is bleeding a little, and then he runs back up the hill, where just over the crest I can see Bella's tail wagging, as I try to run up there and save her.
