I find this animal out behind the garage, like a brightly-colored fox. He's been caught in some kind of trap, though it's now loose and hanging on him. He is friendly, and lets me come right up and inspect him. As I'm checking him out, trying to rescue him, I can see that the trap has chopped off one of his legs, and then as I look further, I see that's more than that, it's several of his legs. In fact, all of his legs are chopped off in the middle, and the lower ends of them are all here mixed up in this mess. I'm trying to take inventory, to see if all his chopped-off legs are there, but it seems there are only three. I think I should gather them up to take them to the vet, but maybe it's too late, and I should just put him out of his misery somehow? I imagine him trying to walk on the stumpy legs that remain.
