I'm traveling, in some distant city, in an old hotel. I'm leaving to go out, when I remember that I should have gone to the AES show this morning! Apparently it's happening in this town, and I wanted to see what they are using these days for audio transports. But it closed at noon or shortly after noon, and now it's too late. Damn!

I usually take the stairs, but this time, I decide to take the elevator. It's an old building, and the elevator is in a narrow hallway off the main hall, like it was installed long after the building was built, of a very old style like the 1920's. I push the button, and the door opens, but the elevator is full of shelves of towels and linens. It's been repurposed for the hotel staff.

Then I'm stuck, because I can't use the elevator, and apparently can't go back in the direction I came in. A hotel housekeeper happens by and says she'll send someone up to let me out, and I wonder why she couldn't just let me out, since she apparently has the access.
