It's as if I'm sitting on the floor, with Vera and baby Amber. There's a skunk, and Vera has no tolerance for it. I think she considers it an risk to Amber, so she just grabs it, holds it, and slashes it underneath with a knife. Its face is toward me, and it doesn't look like a skunk, it looks like a cat with very pretty colors, mostly white with rich brown stripes. It has a certain look which at first I take to mean it's just about to "strike" with its spray, but then I realize that it's just life going out of its eyes as it dies.

(Perhaps refers to the wasps... I don't like to kill them because they haven't shown themselves to be dangerous, but it definitely a risk that Vera is not willing to tolerate. There was a really neat nest outside her window that I had to eliminate, I think that same day.)
