I'm in Hawaii, we're going to leave soon and I'm disappointed that where we are doesn't have big waves, it's a calm sea. I think we should go to the south, which is across the island. It isn't too far and I think there are big waves there.

But then I go out walking to see if there are big waves here. It's pouring down rain, and I'm wearing flip-flops, walking uphill as if in the back yard above my parents' house. Somehow the ocean is just up the hill, like where the fence is, and the pasture. I want to see if there are waves.

I wonder why I don't just live in Hawaii.
