Last Vacation Hills | | fritz | Dec 7, 2006 | I'm traveling with some of my family in New Zealand. Seems it's the last day of my vacation, and we're driving toward "home". We make a stop in the woods, and Maureen, who is driving us, pulls out a cigarette and starts smoking.
After I see her smoking I decide to have a cigarette too, but I get a late start and she's already done and everyone is getting back into the car. They take off, leaving me behind. I bury the cigarette butt in the dirt with my foot, and start walking in the direction taken by the car.
A while later I emerge into a clearing and I can see the car (my Roob) up a hill past two switchbacks ("bitchbacks", I think). There is a trail straight up the hill, so I take it.
Reunited with my travel companions, it is now my turn to drive. They move around to make room, and I start driving, of course on the left side of the road. I have to turn around, and I'm having some trouble determining where I'm allowed to be.
We stay in a house in a beach-town, involving a long curved walk around the beach and then a long steep hill climb to get to where we're lodging. After we explore the area a bit, we look at a map I had drawn to guide us in the area, and it is quite wrong, but as it turned out, enough to do the job. | Next: Forget Everything! |
