I'm awakened in the middle of the night by lightning. The bedroom of Natasha and I is along the east edge of my parents' house, and through the window I see the lightning ignite the tops of three trees, and they continue to burn.

I don't expect them to continue burning, but they do, and I'm concerned that they'll burn all of the woods down to ashes, so I get some clothes on and intend to go stop the fires. But how, anyway? Does dad have a fire extinguisher? What about the hose? I think the fire will burn down to the ground before spreading, maybe I can attack it there.

Seems that the three fires are put out by rain or something, but a third remains in the distance. The reason it's still burning is that it's not on dad's property, it's on the Mills's. But we're still worried, because it could still catch the whole woods on fire. It's very snowy up there, so I start gathering all my snow gear and putting it in. I'm especially concerned about socks, and I find a thin slippery pair and a heavy wool pair and put them both on.
