Dad has come into my bedroom at my house, and we're discussing Steve and David. They both left here a few days ago, and may have got stuck in the snow.

It seems we have evidence that Dave is ok. He made some phone calls or something in the intervening days. But Steve is nowhere to be found. I have a mental image of my Subaru, which he was apparently was driving, stranded on the edge of the road, and Steve walking out through the snow for help. Seems he almost certainly froze to death out there.

(in real life, the news right now is about some lost climbers, probably dead, on Mount Hood. And just a couple weeks ago was a couple stranded by snow for more than a week in their car, in which the father died trying to walk out for help.)
