It's night, and I am just about to depart from a city I've been visiting. I am to be driving a bus, large like a tour bus, for many hours throughout the night. Mentally I lament that I didn't really "get to know" this city, we hit a few sights but that was it; we really should have taken more time to hang around.

This is going to be a long drive, and I'm worried about how I will stay awake. I decide I should get some nicotine pouches or something, and maybe some candy, I'm thinking Dots. There should be a 7-11 or something nearby. I can't quite think of what to say to the people, my friends and traveling companions who are already loaded up on the bus and ready for departure, so I just say nothing and walk away. I'll just be a minute.

But then everything gets difficult. I thought there was a 7-11 here, I saw the sign, but it turns out it's just a sign similar to a 7-11 sign. I walk up the street, but it's slow like I'm walking through molasses, and I can't find a store. Finally I find a 7-11 and go in, but it's all wrong, I can't find the candy. It's a large store, with an aisle right up the middle leading from the door to the cashier, and then side aisles going off to left and right. But none of them are food or snacks. I can't even find anybody to ask; the cashier is helping other customers and stands up at a high counter, several steps up, where he isn't easy to interrupt. And still, even with the most effort I can apply, every move is difficult and sluggish, time is passing and I'm sure the people on the bus are wondering where I went, now about a half hour ago.
