Vera (my wife, but in the dream apparently girlfriend) is breaking up with me, apparently partly over these boots that I received as an apparent Christmas gift a few years ago. I explain to her that they weren't a gift, I just went over to my friend Wade and Leta's house, and somebody else had these boots they were just getting rid of, and I liked them so they gave them to me. Also, she says, I'm so homophobic. She says that twice, that's how homophobic I am. I didn't know that I was, but most people don't think they are, so I feel somewhat guilty about that. I think the person that gave me the boots was gay, or transsexual, or something like that.

So she's leaving, walking away, and I say "it doesn't have to be this way", and she answers "yes, it does."

I am following a few feet behind her, and I stop, putting my face downward, and cry. She comes back and hugs me. "So that it then," I say, "I'll just see you around, or whatever?"

"Yes," she says, "I'll see you around."
