Airplane WaterfritzDec 24, 2006

I get on an airplane. The room is huge (I've dreamed these planes before) with a rich wood floor, and just a few seats. There are good ones in the middle, big soft ones you can have if you're lucky, near the TV. The plane isn't crowded, so I have the room and the cushy chair all to myself.

The plane isn't flying; it has to drive quite a way to the airport along a regular 2-lane road. It's difficult because of the wings, so it has to do quite a bit of manuevering to get around the trees and other obstacles, sometimes going quite sideways to squeeze in between. It's a challenge, but my boss Tom is out there, guiding it with expertise.

I'm wondering when I should sleep. The flight seems to be about 8 hours, then a stop, then about 4 hours. So I'm thinking I'll sleep for the second half of this flight, and then most of the other one.

We haven't taken off yet, and we stop at Thriftway near my house. I want to buy some bottled water - these planes always make you terribly thirsty, and their water is never good. Seems I need more than a 32-ouncer, but less than two. Maybe three 24-ouncers. We're sitting, as though outside Starbucks, waiting for the plane to be ready, not wanting to miss it. Then somebody comes and says the plane is having some problems, so it'll be a while.

I say that's it then, I'm going to run into Thriftway and get some water and also pee. So I go in to do that, starting with the bathroom, but no matter how long I go, I'm not satisfied. Then I wake and have to pee.
