Mad About MoviesfritzJan 3, 2007

I'm at a movie theatre, early in the morning. I made a rather sudden decision to meet Natasha for this important movie rather than to work, although I meant to go to work early and then duck out to the movie later in the day. Now I won't get to work until 10:30, and I meant to be there at 9:00 for a company meeting (true to real life).

It's showing in theater 9 or 9A. This is a new theater chain, but I went to another once before. I go into theater 9, and the previews are playing. I stand in back, letting my eyes adjust to the dark, to see if I can see Natasha. The person behind me complains and I move, then another person behind me complains, although there's nothing on the screen. I'm annoyed, and someone waves from a seat (these theaters are very small, maybe only ten seats across, about ten or fifteen rows with an aisle in the middle), but it isn't Natasha, it's just Mary from work saying hello. Natasha isn't there, so I exit and go down to 9A, but it's sort of down a hall behind a snack bar, and then I have to go outside. I'm missing the movie, and also missing work, and I realize I left a bag I was carrying in one of theaters, so even if I find the movie I'll have to go back, and I'll miss the beginning. I get really mad and start swearing.

I see a friend of mine from childhood named John something, with his girlfriend, and he's dropped his wallet or something and he's just as mad as I am, in this grassy area near the theater, cussing up a storm. Strange, first time we've seen each other in 25 years, and we're both mad as hell.
