Right out in the driveway in front of the main entrance to our house, there is a hole, and a rat comes out of it. Our two dogs, Theo and Bella, pounce on the rat and they both try to attack it. It gets badly maimed, all blood and guts, but still alive, and I feel sorry for it, thinking it should be put out of its misery. But it escapes from the dogs and crawls back to the hole, which is now a kind of basin, a larger bowl of a hole with a smaller hole at the bottom. But now it gets attacked by four or five other rats in the bowl, who are trying to eat it.

Vera is watering something with the hose, and ends up filling the bowl with water, with all the rats in it. Well that's it, I think, they must all be drowned now. Oh well.
