I'm at the office of my employer, where there is some sort of gathering of employees from all over the world. The central area of the office has all been cleared out so that everyone can sit in there for a presentation. It's a very large space, not anything from real life.

They pass a microphone around for everyone to introduce themselves. I think the suggestion is made to tell people where your desk is, as part of your introduction. When the microphone gets to me, I point out a desk that's been pushed way off to the edge, and piled high with electronics and a huge tube monitor. "That's my desk," I say, and everybody laughs. I mean to continue and say that it doesn't always look that way, and that I'm an engineer and whatever, but the person controlling the microphone passes it on to the next person.
