Foreign Snacking Techniques | | fritz | Jan 22, 2007 | I'm at a party in a foreign country, perhaps New Zealand. They've made a dessert composed of some sort of tortilla-like shells, several of them, with whipped chocolate and cream topping. It's difficult to eat, but I watch the boy who is making them fold it, and when my turn comes up, I do as he did. But he stops me as I'm taking my first bite and corrects my technique: "no, you have to fold it again", which I do.
They ask me if I've never had these sweets before, and I say no, I've only been here three days. I'll only be here a week.
But I don't like sweets so much, and there are other snacks on the table. I take the last piece of cheese, and a cracker. | Next: Strange Olive Egg |
