Strange House, Stange BathroomsfritzJan 28, 2007

I seem to be showing somebody around my new house, maybe my dad. There's girl vacuuming. The upstairs area is spacious and beautiful, but the floors are arranged in a strange way - some half-floors and split-levels - such that you can't get right to the next floor; sometimes you have to go up two and down one or something.

We proceed to the basement, which has a large common area and two hallways on opposite sides. A renter lives down one of the hallways, and we go down the other. There is a bathroom off the hall that is so small, you can't even get in it. I open the door to its maximum, about 8 inches, and exclaim how a large person couldn't even get in. In fact, I don't think even I could get in. But then we notice that the toilet is right by the door, and is an odd retrofitted thing that points its access out to the side; so it appears that the toilet is for peeing literally from the hall. How interesting!

My guests stop in a kitchen (there are two or three of them now) but I continue down the hall. There's a room at the end that is all wrecked; the wall is broken down and you can see out into the basement of a parking building. There's a girl here that I don't recognize, and she says she's a friend of a girl that I had been allowing to live in that room. The room looks like it used to be a multi-stall shower room, leading to the inference that this house used to be a common-living space for quite a few.

I go back to the kitchen and my renter is there, chatting with my folks. He gives me a big back of pills, vitamins and herbals, that I don't really want to ingest, but I take the bag from him anyway. I ask him, since he's here, if we can go see his room to make their tour complete. But I'm doing it awkwardly because I can't remember his name.

Behind his back I'm pantomiming to my dad that I can't remember his name, what is it, but I'm also whispering and I think a little too loud. He might have heard.

We also discover another bathroom in the same hallway with the tiny one, but this one is a little bigger, big enough to actually use.
