A Subaru Kind of CampingfritzFeb 8, 2007

I'm taking the Subaru for some sort of camping trip, alone. The road, which looks fairly normal on the map (an area similar to Parrett Mountain or PCC Sylvania), is obstructed by a huge ragged bump, and I'm not sure the Subaru can make it over, especially with this trailer. I stop and consider emptying the trailer, then I figure I'll just give it a shot, and slowly scrape my way over.

I drive around for a while and then encounter another such bump, or the same one on the way back, but this time there's a large camper on the other side and for some reason this means it won't be so easy. I stop, and start unpacking the trailer. A woman is helping, in an irritated way as though I should not have put us both in this situation.

The trailer has a soft tassled top like the Lester Express, and we are breaking it down and removing it. It all goes very compactly into about three small pouches, and I'm marveling at the engineering.

Seems later I've parked on a side road near the freeway, out of view and in a forest, to sleep. Seems I have a long drive ahead, so I should sleep now. It's night, but I'm wonder if the freeway noise will be a problem later.
