A Library is a Library, and Who Needs the Oregonian?fritzJan 6, 2008

I'm at an unfamiliar university with Steve. We're carrying some heavy textbooks, and we're trying to find the library. We walk all over, unable to find it, until we ask somebody. She seems like she knows, but she can't find it either at first.

Finally we find it; the problem was that it was called the library, it was called something modern and technical. I complain that they always do that, instead of calling it the library, they call it the "Research Media Student Resource Center" or some crap. Why can't they just call it the Library?

So we go in, but the doorway is very narrow and requires climbing up on a platform while pushing through the door, and a large woman is partially blocking the entryway. We squeeze past, and then a young female student sitting on the floor says "hey, can I look at that?", pointing to today's Oregonian, which is dangling from my hand in its thin rainproof bag. I notice that along the top it has a hot red fire icon, in which it says something about hot news for students. Apparently they've just today been granted some new health insurance, and she wants to read about it. "Sure," I say, "you can have it."
