The Leash Police and a Rock ClimbfritzJan 15, 2008

I'm getting out of a car in a full parking lot, and Keta takes Tim (my dog) and starts away with him. When they are about 30 feet away I notice that she hasn't put the leash on him yet so I yell to her to put it on and she does.

Just then a cop comes up and asks me if it's my dog. I say yes, and she scolds me about not putting the leash on him right when I take him out of the car. I tell her that I usually put his leash on even before I take him out, literally reach in and snap it on before he jumps out. But this time it was just confused because Tim went with my sister. She gives me a ticket anyway.

We go to some strip-mall, like where Casa Colima is, to pay the ticket but for some reason they aren't available. I decide not to pay them, since this is my last day in the country anyway and I don't think I really deserved the ticket. Instead I go back to our residence, where Leah is emptying out some drawers into a suitcase. I should start packing, I think, but I've got all night.

At some point I end up climbing a tall rock wall, with no protection. Chirpy is there. I scale up about half the wall and then can't find a good handhold, though there are many almost-good ones, and I'm getting tired. I look down, and it's too far to fall. I climb back down, which turns out to be pretty easy, to take a rest and try again.
